When, what and where?

The 5th Japanese-German Youth Summit will take place from 14th to 17th August, in Tokyo.
The Youth Summit is a conference held by about 200 Japanese, German and international students and young people under the motto "Create our future".
Conference topics will be discussed in small groups of approx. 10-12 students under these four categories:
  • A) Education
  • B) Social System / Society
  • C) Environment & Technology
  • D) Lifestyle
Results will be presented to the public and media.

Topics will be worked out by interested young people, in particular voluntary group leaders.

Participation
  • Participants: About 200 Japanese, German and international students and young people, generally between 18 and 30 years of age. 
  • Fees: 20,000 Yen (included in Youth Week fees) to be transferred after admission.
    Friendship Fee Option: 2 or more friends who apply together will get a fee discount per person
    (2 to 4 friends = 1,000 Yen discount per person, 5 to 9 friends = 1,500 Yen discount per person, 10 or more friends = 2,000 Yen discount per person) after admission.

  • Fees do include group transportation in Tokyo, accommodation in single rooms for 5 nights (13th to 17th August) and meals at Yoyogi NYC, group entrance fees, program parties and insurance.
    Note: Japanese young people can choose to apply either for the Youth Week or for the Youth Summit, all other students and young people can only apply for the Youth Week. There can be no pro rata reduction for participants living in Tokyo. All participants will stay in NYC accommodation facilities to make the most of the cultural exchange and group experience. Fees do not include travel/flight costs to Tokyo.

What else?
  • Conference languages: Japanese, German and English.
    Note: Participants should have basic foreign language skills in at least one of the above languages as experience tells that all of the above languages will be used on occasion. Main Youth Summit language will be English, followed by Japanese and German. This flagship event brings together program partner representatives and participants from across the world.
  • Dress code: Casual; business casual for receptions and presentation to the public.
  • Organization: Youth Summit content is worked out voluntarily and topics are proposed by interested young people. Youth Week content is mainly fixed.
